In the throes.....

No sewing, quilting or knitting.  😩

I am in the throes of a kitchen remodel.  I will say "ugh" now, but in the end, I am sure it will all be worth it.

The floor is going to be laid next week, the quartz is going to be measured tomorrow, tile back splashes will be next and then the painter (who is coming next week to do the study) will be here when it is all done.  So, you can imagine, I have been doing a lot of shopping and comparing.

We sold a roll top desk through Marketplace on Facebook in two hours.  They came that night and gave us the money.  When they saw the disarray throughout the house, she asked me not to move until she came to pick up her desk the next day....hah!  So you can imagine what things look like here.

On top of it all, we are going to paint the kitchen cupboards ourselves.....another "ugh".

But that brings me to this recipe that I came across and it really worked well on cleaning the cupboards.

1/2 cup Borax
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 gal of very hot water.

I am almost giddy how well it worked and with little  scrubbing on my part.  I think we are ready to paint them now.

So, when things settle down around here, I will post some pics worth seeing; and hopefully, I will be back to quilting full fledged.

  1. Oh my goodness - you have jumped in to a major redo - the kitchen really is the heart of the home and when it is “disrupted” during a remodel everything feels topsy turvy (ask me how I know) Your plans sound amazing and I read the magic word Quartz! Looking forward to seeing the Grand Reveal.
