A day of "perfect"....

In preparation for my second block from the "Beyond the Cherry Trees Album Quilt" BOM, I used my "perfect circle" templates to cut out 17 red flowers. I used the larger template for the red petal and then a smaller template to draw the center circle on the right side of the fabric. The center of that was then clipped in pie wedges for ease in doing the reverse applique method.



Then on the wrong side, I used applique glue to add a square of fabric for my flower center. I stitched the center circle, and then trimmed excess fabric away. The last step was to gather the flower around the larger template, press and "walllah"!!!

I had 17 perfect flowers for block #2 in no time at all.

The perfect circle templates that I used were from the smaller circle package and in the mail today came the package of the larger circles. I find these to be the best product as compared to trying to draw and cut your own templates. I highly recommend them.

The last "perfect" for my day was this little guy. Within seconds he was sound asleep. I guess being cute and good was just too much for him.

The Hearts and Hand blocks are now circles.



I thought it would be a good idea to stay on top of things and make my blocks into the circles they have to be for the quilt. I used the plastic heat resistant template to do them and it worked like a charm. The only problem ones were the paper pieced ones that have a lot of thickness in the seams. Those I had to baste down just to keep them in place.


Also, today, my grandson turned 5. Gosh! He is going to be going to school. How did that happen?

We celebrated his birthday at Chuck E. Cheese with a few of his friends from school and all the family members. Here are a couple pictures of the birthday boy on his special day.

I can't count!

I said I had a dozen Hearts and Hands blocks completed. To my surprise once I put them all together to gaze upon them, sigh and smile because I am so pleased with myself, I find that I have 15!!! Yeah. Now the bad news. I only have 102 to go. :( Oh well.

On a brighter note, my hubby had his 1971 Nova at a car show over at Coyote Joe's last weekend and the "people" from a car magazine were there taking pictures. His car is going to be featured, along with a few others, in a magazine called Cruise News. I don't know all that much about it, but he is all excited as I am sure most other car guys could relate.

Quilting on Memorial Day....

Finished off this baby quilt this morning as I have been under a time crunch. Actually, that was self-induced.....but then I work well under pressure. The shower is this coming Saturday and I had the center made up a few weeks ago from the charm pack that I won for the AQS online contest. I just ordered border, backing and binding fabric to match to finish it off. I marked it, layered it, quilted it and put the binding on yesterday and finished handstitching it down this morning. The fabric line is called Sweetpea and I think it looks quite retro.

After getting the last stitch in this morning and in the washer, we left for a Memorial Day parade with my daugher, her husband and the two grandkids. Here they are watching the parade.

All of a sudden my oldest grandson yelled, "the pirates are coming!!!".

Actually, it was just the fife players. LOL!

Also, thought I would share a picture of another quilt that came out of the washer this morning. It is the laptop quilt that I had made for my father-in-law before he passed away. Just this weekend we cleaned out the house, as my mother-in-law is now in an assisted living, and I took this quilt back. He was my biggest fan when it came to my quilts and I loved him dearly. So, to have this quilt back is very special to me and hopefully one day, one of my kids will love it the way I do. It's just a scrappy quilt, but he was so thrilled to think that I would make him something.
