Snowflakes in March......

Here it is March 28 and it snowed again today.  Oh please, Spring, will you finally come and just stay?

Anyways, I had a quilt top done for a very long time.  It was a guild challenge.
I don't remember the name of the block,

but the block consists of a half square triangle and two quarter square triangles.

I don't even remember how I came up with this design other than the fact that I had this fabric in my stash and with the medium shade blue looking  like snowflakes with a blue sky background,  I came up with "Snowflakes from Heaven".

My stars seemed celestial, then there was blue sky  with snowfall that gave me the inspiration to make  the  "made snowflakes" falling from the sky.

So, it's been loaded on the machine for a week and today with the snow outside, it seemed like a good day to get it done.

I did swirls on most of the quilt in a light gray.  When I came to a "white snowflake", I did that in white feathers.

The top is done.

Here's a peek at the backing.  Perfect, huh?

I found that fabric a few weeks ago for 60% off.  Couldn't go wrong there.

Well, this is one of four UFO's that have been sitting there waiting for me to get to them.  Hopefully, I am going to get this trimmed up and bound soon and then on to the next one.

Spring can come and stay  anytime now.

Progress on Merry and Bright......

Got the circles (ornaments) stitched down.

Next the little escutcheons (crowns? or ornament caps?) on each ornament were appliqued in place.

Then there was the embroidery for the hook placement.

Laid it out.

Sewed the rows.

Stitched the top altogether.

I have the backing and made the binding for this little quilt.

Just need to quilt it and make a hanging sleeve and this one is ready for next Christmas.

See, I told you I am still in the Christmas/winter mode.

I'm still here......

Really, I feel like I have fallen off the face of the earth lately.

I think I burnt myself out with my 2000 thimbles, but hey....they are together.  I haven't touched it lately. I still need to find border fabric, but I will get there.

In the meantime, I know I showed you my blog winnings. An Aurifil thread package.

It has the cutest little quilt pattern in the box and since all the charms were in there for part of the "little" quilt, I decided to purchase the rest of the fabric for this quilt.

All the fabric is cut out for this quilt except for the binding and the backing which are the two fabrics at the top of this picture.

Isn't that an adorable little quilt?

Got all my circles cut out for the ornaments, but I discovered that my template material was not heat resistant.....  :(

I got as far as two circles before the template material really got distorted.  So I had to cut out a piece of cardboard.  Thank goodness for pantyhose!  (pkg lining)

Circles are now ready to applique to the neutral backgrounds that are in the upper left hand corner of the above picture.

So, I have another "in front of the TV project", but then I HAVE  TO GET BUSY on my other UFOs.  No excuses.

Michigan quilters, take note

Come see us at our first Quilter's to Quilter's sale.   Don't know what that is?  Well, it will be 28 quilters/vendors selling...
